Anglers from around the country know that fishing on Kentucky Lake is a year round adventure! Whatever season you visit Kentucky Lake there are plenty of fish. For the fishing adventure you crave get your tackle box and boat ready and head out to Kentucky Lake, you’re never too far away to visit the Lakes area for a fishing trip with your family or your buddies.

March and April the crappie begin to move towards shore to spawn. At the same time you just may snag a largemouth bass so you want to make sure you have tackle for both. The crappie can be located along the shorelines and creek channels 2-4 feet deep. Casting with colorful jigs can be very productive with crappie this time of year.

In the summer months, you can find the white bass running in 15-35 feet of water. While crappie fishing will slow down the catfish will be very active and can generally be found in 29-50 feet of water. Live bait such as leeches; worms and minnows are the attention getters for the cats. Don’t be surprised to find 25 pound or more blue catfish in Kentucky Lake. During the summer months, early morning and late evening are the best times to beat the heat and increase your chances for fish.

As fall arrives with cooler temperatures, the fish are coming to the bank to feed. This time of year is one of the easiest times to catch fish. Crappie and bass will be nearby wherever you see any shad. As the days get cooler and the water temperature drops you can fish any time of the day.

During the winter season, white bass and sauger will be the fish to catch on Kentucky Lake. Using minnows and jigs try fishing in the river channels.

Kentucky Lake is the premier lake for anglers from around the country. Anytime is fishing time at the lake, come out today for the catch of a lifetime.
